Biodegradable Masterbatch Additive - Description

Committed for years to researching solutions that reduce the environmental impact of plastics, the company has developed an innovative product that makes the biodegradation of polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene possible. It has identified a mixture of organic matter which makes two things possible: the product works and a stable compound suitable for combining with polyethylene, polyporpylene and polystyrene has been achieved.

Biodegradation of plastic treated with this material occurs using both aerobic and anaerobic processes: producing the following products:


  • AEROBIC BIODEGRADATION: CO2 + H2O + biomass
  • ANAEROBIC BIODEGRADATION: CO2 + CH4 + biomass
The material´s technology can be employed in traditional manufacturing plants that make plastic products and packaging, without making any changes. Extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding, calendering and rotational moulding systems stay the same and are compatible with using this technology. We have defined the minimum quantity to add during the manufacturing phase: 2% of the weight. As this is a low concentration, it also has the advantage of not changing the properties of the polymer.

The important technical and mechanical properties, such as resistance, re-use and recyclability, and that both the end-user and the manufacturer happily accept the solution, as it requires no change to the manufacturer´s industrial processes or the way the product is used by the consumer.
