Lactose
Lactose is the disaccharide of galactose and glucose. It is widely used as a filler and diluent in oral solid dosage forms such as tablets and capsules. There are several lactose grades available, which vary physically and functionally depending manufacturing process. Spray-dried and agglomerated as well as anhydrous lactose are favoured for direct compression tablet manufacture.

  • Appearance: White to nearly white crystalline particles or powder in various isomeric forms depending on crystallization and drying conditions.
  • Soluble in water
  • Specific rotation: +54.4° - 55.9°

Benefits / Claims
