Hypromellose
Hypromellose is widely used in pharmaceuticals formulations. It is described as partly O-methylated and O-(2-hydroxypropylated) cellulose. Hypromellose is available in several grades that can vary in viscosity and extent of substitution. In the modified release oral solid dosage, Hypromellose can be applied as the hydrophilic matrix due to the fact it forms a gel upon contact with water/or fluid gastric.
