CVC Thermoset Specialties Expands Distribution Agreement with IMCD Germany

IMCD to Now Represent CVC’s Full Line of Reactive Liquid Polymers

Moorestown, NJ -- CVC Thermoset Specialties, an Emerald Performance Materials Company, has expanded its distribution agreement with IMCD Germany to include its Hypro™ Reactive Liquid Polymer (RLP) products. The high-performance RLP product line is manufactured at the company’s ISO 9001:2008 certified operations at Akron, Ohio USA and supplied globally through a network of distribution partners and agents. IMCD represents CVC’s full line of epoxy and RLP products in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, France and Switzerland. In Germany, the company previously handled CVC’s specialty epoxy materials only. In response to growing demand in Germany for the RLP technology, CVC has chosen to extend the distribution agreement.

“CVC continues to see growth opportunities for our RLP materials in Europe, particularly for applications such as high-performance coatings, structural adhesives and sealants,” stated Walt Bustynowicz, VP of Global Sales, CVC Thermoset Specialties. “Our business has been built upon delivering performance advantages to our customers through the products and services we offer. We continue to make investments in new product technology and expanded manufacturing capacity to match the growth potential for our RLP product line in the marketplace. It was important to seek a distribution partner with the experience and resources to successfully promote the entire CVC line of products. We believe that IMCD is the right partner to help us attain our business objectives, because its people possess the in-depth knowledge of the specialty applications we serve.”

Reactive liquid polymers are unique, 100% active solvent-free materials that provide many benefits to high-performance applications. These innovative materials are designed to significantly enhance the fracture toughness, low temperature flexibility and mechanical properties, impact/crack chip resistance adhesion and other performance parameters when added to thermoset formulations. Carboxyl, amine, epoxy, glycidyl ester, methacrylate vinyl, and hydroxyl functional end-groups enable these materials to crosslink with different polymers. These functional groups make the RLPs ideally suited as additives for epoxy, vinyl ester, UPE, and acrylic resin systems.

The Hypro hydroxyl terminated HT series, CVC’s most recent addition to the portfolio, are used as polyols in polyurethane systems. The first product in the HT series, Hypro™ 2800X95, is well suited for production of urethanes that are very soft and flexible, even at low temperatures, and exhibits excellent water/moisture resistance. These are desirable features in applications such as window sealants, electrical encapsulants, and urethane adhesives.

CVC Thermoset Specialties manufactures specialty materials such as EPALLOY™ and HyPox™ specialty epoxies, ERISYS™ modifiers, Hypro™ reactive liquid polymers and OMICURE™ catalysts used by formulators for coatings, adhesives and composites, civil engineering and electronics applications.
